The takeover was announced Jan. 29 and valued at US$830 million at the time.

Altiris, headquartered in Utah, is a provider of software that enables businesses to manage network-based endpoints, including mobile devices, laptops and desktop PCs.

Symantec believes the deal will create a more comprehensive approach to better manage and enforce security policies at the endpoint, identify and protect against security threats and repair and service assets.
