Microsoft details Windows Phone 7 features

No multi-tasking or cut and paste.

Microsoft has been giving more details of its forthcoming Phone 7 mobile operating system at the Mix10 developer conference.

At the conference the software giant said that the new operating system will not, as expected, handle full multi-tasking for non-Microsoft applications, since third party applications were sandboxed.

The operating system will also not have the ability to cut and paste. Apple users were displeased over the lack of a cut and paste function for the first iPhone but Microsoft reportedly said that most Office users do not need to use the function, despite it being a feature of its mobile operating system for more than eight years.

Phones using the operating system will be out by the end of the year, according to Microsoft.

It is unlikely that some phones running Windows currently will be able to upgrade.
