Google Cloud appoints Paul Dearlove as head of New Zealand arm

According to Google Cloud, this move signals the company’s ongoing investment in Aotearoa to meet the growing demand for its cloud services locally, and closely follows the recent announcement of its first ever New Zealand cloud region.

He has spent the last two years as the Head of SAP across Australia and New Zealand at Google Cloud. Prior to that, he led the ANZ digital core cloud division for SAP.

Dearlove will be based in Auckland, and responsible for leading the New Zealand go-to-market cloud strategy, and strengthening relationships with local customers and partners. The new local cloud region will offer high-performance, low-latency services and products to local customers.

Alister Dias, VP, Google Cloud Australia & New Zealand said, "We’re delighted to have Paul leading our New Zealand Cloud business as we enter the next phase of growth and investment in Aotearoa.

"Dearlove's proven experience and deep knowledge will be extremely valuable as we continue to bring the best of Google Cloud technology, including the first-ever New Zealand cloud region, to our growing base of Kiwi customers and partners."

Dearlove said, "We’re doubling down on our investment in New Zealand and backing our mission to help Kiwis and their businesses succeed in a digital economy.

"I'm looking forward to joining the team, and helping our customers and partners truly harness the full potential of data to drive their digital transformation efforts - securely and sustainably.

Caroline Rainsford, country director, Google New Zealand said Google has a long and successful history of partnering with Kiwi businesses, communities and educators to help them succeed.

She said, “It's increasingly important that New Zealand businesses transform to adapt and continue to thrive. I'm excited to have Paul join us in advancing this work, with a strategic focus on Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Ads.”
