Project Freeweb protest hits Adelaide again

Anti-censorship protest group Anonymous plans to hit the streets of Adelaide on Saturday, exactly a month after its first round of nationwide protests.

It will be the second round of Project Freeweb protests to hit Adelaide, according to a Facebook page set up to promote the action.

It was planned to start at 10.00am at Elder Park, the same site as the first protest, before continuing into central Adelaide.

Project Freeweb last hit the streets on February 20. The protests were attended by small groups in capital cities including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The Adelaide leg was hit with controversy in the lead-up with organisers accusing a rival activist group, Block the Filter, of trying to hijack the protest. Block the Filter denied the claim.

The protests came after a high-profile distributed denial of service attack against several Federal Government websites in protest against the filter plan. That was dubbed 'Operation Titstorm'.

Anonymous attackers residing outside Australia were blamed.

A spokesman for Project Freeweb, known only as ‘Infinite', told iTnews the hackers and protesters were different individuals.

Saturday's planned action does not appear to be planned for other states or cities.
