Microsoft, eBay, PayPal, and Visa teamed up with Whole Security to launch an anti-phishing service that allows companies to report and block bogus web sites.

The Phish Report Network enables companies like eBay to securely report fraudulent web sites to a central database operated by Whole Security.

Companies, such as ISPs, that subscribe to the network can access the database or receive immediate notification of confirmed phishing sites in order to block the sites.

Phishing involves fraudulent emails with links to fake web sites that try to trick users into divulging their sensitive data such as bank account information.

Membership to the Phish Report Network is open to any company impacted by phishing sites or that has the ability to protect end users, contingent on meeting qualification criteria and adherence to program standards.
