Australia’s national science agency CSIRO has a new permanent chief information security officer, following the departure of Jamie Rossato back in February.
The agency’s new CISO is Luke Forsyth who, until recently, was a partner in the cyber domain at Deloitte.
iTnews has confirmed that Forsyth started with CSIRO this week.
Rossato, the agency’s last permanent CISO, was there for a bit over a year-and-a-half, but left to take up a CISO role at Orica.
In between his departure, and Forsyth’s appointment, CSIRO’s head of IT services Tom Minchin has been acting in the role for the past eight months.
“Serving as acting CISO for the past eight months has been a fantastic experience,” Minchin wrote in a LinkedIn post, which iTnews verified the details of.
“I’ve particularly enjoyed working with the cyber operations and cyber resilience teams, whose expertise and dedication are central to CSIROs security outcomes and enabling CSIRO to conduct research to enable our people to undertake trusted, secure and impactful research for Australia’s future.”
In returning to his previous IT services role, Minchin wrote that he “looked forward to continuing to support CSIROs technology and cyber journey.”
