ANZ Bank has decided to retire its first-ever mobile banking app goMoney and its Grow wealth app in favour of a new unified mobile banking application.
The new ANZ Australia app debuted on the iOS App Store late last week, as a replacement for the Grow application. ANZ's goMoney is still available on the Apple app store.
The bank has told existing goMoney and Grow users to prepare to switch over to the new app once it has received more functionality. Customers can continue using the old apps "for now".
"Soon, the ANZ App will be the only app you need," its FAQ states.
"Once we’ve added even more new features you’ll love, we will ask all ANZ goMoney customers to switch over to ANZ App."
It said there was no current deadline for the switchover.
Grow customers have been prompted to download an update that will move them to the new mobile application, whereas goMoney users are being encouraged to download the new app from the iOS app store and register using their existing credentials.
The bank said the new app "brings together the best" of Grow and goMoney, offering a single location for ANZ customers to access their banking, super, insurance and investments.
The app has been "optimised for iPhone X and iPad" with a "fresh, simple design", a new support section, and the ability to view credit and debit card transactions "instantly", ANZ said.
The bank said an Android version was coming "soon".
The new application lacks some of the features Grow and goMoney customers are used to, including the pay to mobile function. ANZ said it was working to introduce the PayID function of the new payments platform to the app and would have the tool ready "soon".
Grow was the bank's first mobile application for wealth products, released on iOS in 2014. It offered a dashboard for all the accounts, shares and superannuation funds customers held with the bank. Late last year it had around 100,000 users.
ANZ's goMoney was the bank's first mobile banking application, launching on iOS in mid 2010 and Android two years later.
Update 19/2/18: An ANZ spokesperson said the new app had been developed using "human centred design" to "make sure it delivered the features customers wanted most".
"As part of this we have simplified the underlying platform to allow for greater functionality now and for new features to be added easily in the future. This process combined the previous goMoney and Grow platforms," the spokesperson said.
"The new ANZ banking app features the ability to add your cards into Apple Pay with a few taps of the screen, and the inclusion of our voice ID capability that we launched last year to make it more convenient for customers.
"As this is a new platform IOS customers will need to download the app rather than just updating the current goMoney app."
