ACIF expands to include AVoIPA
The Australian Voice over IP Association (AVoIPA) has announced that it will merge under the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF).

AVoIPA was founded in February 2005 as a niche industry body to represent VoIP network operators and service providers.

The ACIF, founded in 1997, represents the wider Australian telecommunications and ISP provider sector.

ACIF CEO Anne Hurley, said having AVOIPA under its umbrella would provide a stronger voice for both VoIP and telco/ISP members.

“By extending our membership further into the VoIP sector, ACIF will more closely reflect the diversity that characterises the industry in the Next Generation Network world,” she said in a statement.

Mike Carew, founder of AVOIPA, said in the statement that the communications industry needed unified representation and welcomed the opportunity to make a significant contribution through ACIF.
