Facebook will power the data centre with 100 percent renewable energy, supplied from a wind project in nearby Wellsburg, Iowa. It is part of the company's effort to reach 25 percent clean and renewable energy in its global mix of four data centres by 2015.
The project will add up to 138 MW of new renewable wind capacity to the grid in Iowa, Facebook said.
