Kim MacPherson has taken over as vice president of engineering for PassMark Security, a developer of authentication solutions for ecommerce. MacPherson has been vice president of engineering at Securify and has worked on secure financial service applications at Intuit. www.passmarksecurity.com

Two federal agencies, the Treasury Department's Financial Management Service and the Office of Personnel Management have selected RSA Security's federated Identity Manger solution to help meet the requirements of its E-Authentication Initiative. The product will enable federal agencies to share secure identities across government departments and will provide a standardization process for ID management.

Tom Gillis, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for IronPort Systems, said the government is making progress, but shouldn't declare victory just yet.

"We are seeing a shift. More and more we are seeing blended threats," Gillis said. "We've also seen a 200 percent increase in email containing spyware."
