Vic ambulance dispatch system crashes again

The primary computer-aided ambulance dispatch (CAD) system, managed by the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA), went down this morning for "about an hour", according to an ESTA spokesperson.

She said it had switched to a backup system, with the problem suspected to be hardware-related. The organisation is currently investigating the cause.

The crash had not affected the triple 0 service, she said.

The system glitch is the latest in a string of issues affecting the service in recent months. In early July the CAD system went down for more than three hours, and it experienced 90 minutes of downtime in late May.
