Symantec has released Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac announcing it is compatible with Apple’s latest operating system Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Mac users can receive automatic updates which are designed to discretely update in the background, said Symantec.

“Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac enables users to enjoy computing without worrying about malicious threats that could lead to identity theft or data loss,” said
Rowan Trollope, senior vice president, Consumer Business Unit, Symantec.

Featuring a redesigned user interface, Symantec claimed the suite automatically detects and removes viruses in addition to scanning and cleaning downloaded files and e-mail attachments.

Furthermore, Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac works with signature-based protection, claimed the security vendor.

“With this new Leopard-ready version, Symantec delivers new vulnerability protection capabilities giving our Mac customers an advanced layer of protection,” Trollope said.

Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac will be available for purchase on select online and retail outlets from mid December. The estimated retail price for Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac is AU$59.95.
