Sun Microsystems’s A/NZ managing director Duncan Bennet has resigned “to pursue other interests”, with former director of sales Andrew Goodlace to assume the role of acting MD.

Bennet was praised by Sun's APAC president, Lionel Lim, for his "exceptional leadership and many contributions" to the company. These are said to have included consistently growing market share and developing a high-performance sales team.

Goodlace has more than 20 years' experience in the IT industry managing sales and partner engagement teams.

He joined Sun from KAZ Technology Services where he was Client Director, responsible for business development.

Prior, he was the founder and managing director of Iocore Asia Pacific (previously Intec Australia) before it was acquired by KAZ in 2005.

"It is an exciting time to be with Sun. The Australia and New Zealand operation has performed well and the local market has responded positively to Sun's latest initiatives to help customers get more out of their IT systems and services," said Goodlace in a statement.

"Going forward, we will continue to focus on innovations that help our customers save time and resources".
