Pathzero names Christophe Brulliard as chief sustainability officer

Brulliard’s experience spans his role as principal consultant at Point Advisory, associate director at Net Balance, principal economist at URS, part of the sustainability team at Melbourne Water, risk manager at Credit Lyonnais and an auditor at Deloitte.

His 20 year career in climate and natural resources economics with a focus on carbon, water and climate change adaption follows 10 years in audit and finance.

His expertise includes consulting on Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), net-zero emissions planning, climate change adaption planning, and carbon accounting.

Commenting on his shift from pureplay finance to sustainability Brulliard said, “Carbon was progressively emerging as the topic of greatest importance. I wanted to be closer to that, and closer to pure sustainability topics.

“With Pathzero, I can remain close to the core of the topic that I am working to address – climate change. And we operate in a dynamic environment where I can really shape what is happening and be agile."

The SaaS-based start-up allows corporates to collect and generate insights from their carbon data in order to reach net zero emissions targets. The tool provides oversight to investment managers of their financed emissions and allows companies to measure and reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

“Pathzero is creating the infrastructure required to respond to these emerging needs in the finance sector – a carbon information network that works at scale,” said Brulliard.

“Impact is what really drives me, and we need technology to scale this up. So, I want to help make Pathzero a success – because it is necessary.

“Pathzero will be game-changing for accelerating the financial sector’s transition to net zero. I am excited to build the momentum of this transition with the team.”

The organisation recently launched its first interactive tool for estimating financed emissions in private markets.

According to Carl Prins, co-founder and CEO at Pathzero, “Private market firms — which are traditionally opaque— are under increasing pressure from investors, stakeholders, employees and the public to report accurate information about their emissions. Pathzero’s Navigator tool provides firms with a high-level snapshot of emissions across portfolios and enables enhanced, efficient communication among stakeholders.”
