DiData unifies communication for Leightons
Dimension Data has completed the deployment of a unified communication system for Leighton Contractors' new offices in Sydney.

The IT services provider used Microsoft Office System and Live Communications Server (“LCS”) integrated with Cisco CallManager via Genesys Enterprise Telephony Software (“GETS”), for development company, Leighton Contractors.

According to DiData, Microsoft Office Communicator (“Communicator”) was the unified communications client. Through this Leightons’ users have access to real-time communication environment including telephony information and phone control.

Dimension Data and Leightons have merged network and telephony availability into a single online presence accessible within Microsoft Office 2003 applications.

Scott Ferguson, IT Infrastructure and Services Manager, Leighton Contractors said Cisco IP Telephony and Microsoft Live Communications Server were the ideal communication tools.

”Dimension Data deployed a managed operating environment for Leighton Contractors, with a new core IP Telephony, wireless and security infrastructure, and directory and messaging upgrade,” he said.

“The catalyst for Leighton Contractors was our recent move to a new Corporate Office in Sydney. The short time frames often required to relocate or establish new operations made a less-rigid communications infrastructure very attractive.”

Mobility was another consideration with the collaborative infrastructure, said Jon Farrell, Principal Consultant, Dimension Data.

“Leightons’ mobile workforce can also use these technologies,” he said.
