Claims impact "exacerbated" by Telstra outage.

Centrelink customers have experienced major issues accessing online service from the Department of Human Services for the second time in five weeks.

Centrelink's online services fall over again

The problems began on Monday morning, with numerous users reporting issues accessing online Centrelink services on social media.

The department later advised of “issues impacting Centrelink online accounts, Child Support online accounts and the Express Plus Centrelink app”.

A spokesperson confirmed to iTnews that “some customers” have experienced difficulties with the services – namely the Centrelink Online Account and Express Plus Centrelink app – throughout the day.

“The department is working to resolve this as soon as possible,” the spokesperson said.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and encourage those affected to try again later.”

The spokesperson said the problems had been “exacerbated by issues experienced by Telstra”. Telstra's outage began around 9.30 AEST, affecting its 4G mobile network.

As a result of today's problems, the deadline to report income details has been “extended to 7pm local time (with the exception of WA which will be 6pm local time)”, the spokesperson said.

It comes a month after the online services were last knocked out by an unnamed issue.
