Distributor Bluechip Infotech will open a Perth office in February to better service west coast resellers and cut down on costs shipping freight from the eastern seaboard.

Brett Bradley, operations director at Bluechip Infotech, said freight costs were an issue for Bluechip and its WA reseller customers when ordering from the distributor's Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane locations.

"It's difficult [for resellers] having to ring Sydney or Melbourne and freight [product] at a cost.

"If you're going to be a player, you've got to have a presence over there," said Bradley. The Perth office is around 700sq metres.

In addition, Bluechip is about to move from Auburn, Sydney to a new warehouse in Silverwater.

The new warehouse had an 11 metre clearance at the top, as opposed to seven metres at the Auburn location, allowing Bluechip to fit in another row of pallets, he said.
