Chip maker AMD has launched a partner program across the Asia-Pacific region that rewards resellers for buying through authorised channels with access to marketing, sales and technical support.

The company has consolidated several existing channel programs across the region into one Solution Provider program aimed at system builders and OEMs, distributors and reseller integrators.

The partner program has three levels; an AMD Premier level which is designed for distribution partners; AMD Professional for OEMs and system integrators and AMD Reseller for resellers and retailers.

When partners purchase AMD gear, they can earn "reward points" to redeem for marketing materials and activities including events, advertising, direct mail, merchandising services and promotional goods.

Partners upload the serial number of their AMD product upon purchase.

Points expire after six months, said Caroline Francis, senior marketing executive, Australia and New Zealand at AMD.

No cash rebates are attached to this program and it was company policy not to offer rebates.

Francis said the company is encouraging resellers to buy through authorised channels and it would provide AMD with "greater visibility" of products that are going through its authorised channels.

"We are confident that the program will reward that correct buying behaviour," she said.

Resellers can register for the program at www.amdrewards.com.
