WorleyParsons buys new data management software

Engineering services firm WorleyParsons has expanded an agreement with software maker Aveva to cover the implementation of a new engineering information management system.

The ASX-listed firm, which is best known as an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) provider for large resources and industrial projects, is an existing user of Aveva's PDMS 3D design software.

It has now also bought into Aveva Net for information management on large projects.

"Our objective is to use it to enhance data quality and integrity through every stage of a project, allowing us to deliver even greater benefits to our customers through the full project lifecycle," WorleyParsons engineering systems director Jim Purvis said in a statement.

An Aveva spokesman said that WorleyParsons had committed to a new multi-year agreement that would see the services provider take up a broader range of Aveva products.

"Their use of Aveva Net is a significant next step in our relationship," the spokesman said.

"The Aveva technology will help to improve overall project efficiency by shortening schedules, lowering costs and improving quality."
