The company announced Farmer’s appointment on its official LinkedIn account, stating that he joins “at a really exciting time as we continue to explore how we use technology to add value and create meaningful places where communities connect.”

“Bringing a wealth of experience to Vicinity, Munro has done it all, from modernising core delivery systems and enhancing customer experiences, to helping businesses leverage cutting edge tools and AI capabilities,” the company wrote.

Farmer separately acknowledged the appointment in a brief LinkedIn post of his own.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a passionate and talented team,” he wrote. “[I] can't wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Farmer has spent most of this year with Kodora.ai, a consultancy and tool developer from Melbourne that is involved in data projects including with Barbeques Galore.

However, he is more recognisable for his former role as the CIO at Australia Post.

Ian Padgham last held the role at Vicinity Centres until February 2023, when he left to join Parks Victoria as its CIO.

iTnews understands that IT was managed by multiple 'heads of' domain leads in the interim under a new IT strategic approach, until Farmer's appointment.
