SAFLINK, a provider of biometric solutions, said Thursday that it won a contract to install and integrate a physical access control system at Region 6 of the Environmental Protection Agency in Dallas, Texas.

The system will integrate several different technologies, including iris recognition, to secure the EPA office and help it comply with certain Homeland Security requirements, according to SAFLINK.

The vendor was awarded the contract by Information Systems Support (ISS), an IT services firm, which in 2002 won a task order by the General Services Administration. SAFLINK is a subcontrator to ISS on the project and will provide security software, consulting services, and iris recognition cameras. Its portion of the contract is valued at about $350,000.

The EPA may expand its use of the access system once it's deployed, SAFLINK said.
