Big quota wins.

Optus has joined a growing list of ISPs offering a terabyte broadband service, following the introduction of a large data upgrade to its 'Fusion' internet and home phone bundles.

Optus boosts Fusion broadband to 1TB

The plans were first announced on the Whirlpool broadband forums a week ago.

Customers of the 'Fusion' bundles received a major data boost with the $99 a month plan going from 15 GB to 500 GB, the $109 a month plan rising from 30 GB to 500 GB, and the $129 a month plan going from 50 GB to 1 TB.

The difference between Optus' $99 and $109 plans is the inclusion of lower international call rates in the latter.

The carrier also scrapped excess data charges and peak/off-peak limits on the plans and said it would shape customers to 256 Kbps once they reached their quota.

Existing customers would automatically receive the upgraded quotas, an Optus spokesman said on Whirlpool.

"The elimination of excess usage charges will enable customers to better manage their bills. Likewise, not restricting customers with peak and off peak times on our Fusion offers, will ensure customers can use their data as and when they want to without having to worry about watching the clock," Optus consumer marketing director Gavin Williams said.

The carrier also announced changes to bundles with a postpaid mobile and to naked DSL services.
