MessageLabs plans to incorporate Symantec's Brightmail Anti-Spam technology into its managed anti-spam service.

Under a collaborative agreement unveiled by the companies Wednesday, MessageLabs will integrate Symantec's anti-spam technology with its proprietary Skeptic predictive anti-spam technology and provide the combined offering as a managed service by the fourth quarter.

In the combined solution, the companies plan to use Symantec's filtering technologies and focus MessageLabs' efforts on identifying and protecting against new spam threats before a signature is available.

MessageLabs will offer the anti-spam service as part of a suite of email security and management services.
