Multinational technology company Lenovo has appointed Kumar Mitra as its new Australian and New Zealand region managing director for its infrastructure solutions group (ISG) business.
Mitra was promoted to the position as part of an expansion of his current role and will now lead both the Central Asia Pacific (CAP) and Australia-New Zealand (ANZ) remit.
It follows as Lenovo doubles down on ISG across both the key markets for the company.
In the role, Mitra will drive the business growth strategy for both regions, focussing on producing Lenovo’s, ‘Smarter Technology For All’ vision which aims to create an inclusive, trustworthy and smarter future for technology.
He takes over the role from John McCloskey. McCloskey has since shifted to a new role as regional sales director at CrowdStrike after around six months at Lenovo.
Mitra said, “I am honoured to be expanding my role to ANZ and CAP for Lenovo ISG.”
“This is an exciting time where we’re focused on driving a new era of IT – bringing AI to the data and providing smarter infrastructure solutions.
“This is so our customers and partners fulfil their potential through technology, and benefit from greater efficiency and reliability. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead our teams in both CAP and ANZ on this journey,” Mitra said.
Sumir Bhatia, President, of AP ISG said, “With Kumar at the helm for ANZ, I am certain that we will continue to drive intelligent digital transformation for our customers and partners.”
He added that he looks forward to witnessing Mitra “work with our ANZ ISG leadership team to build upon our ongoing successes in the region.”
Mitra first joined Lenovo in 2021 where was a director for OEM sales, Asia Pacific at Nutanix.
He also holds senior managerial and director experience across multiple roles throughout the APAC region.
