Kaspersky Lab to open Australian office

Kaspersky Lab is going to open a regional office in Melbourne to strengthen its business in Oceania.

Alexey Gromyko, previously business development manager A/NZ, will head up the office co-ordinating all Kaspersky Lab operations as its new director of channels.

Gromyko told CRN the company is currently restructuring its local distributor and partner levels in accordance with the move.

It is actively looking for an R&D team and has already agreed to stock its products in five Tier 2 retail chains, which it will announce in the coming months.

He also wants to set up an accreditation program for resellers.

“Kaspersky Lab has been present in the Australian and New Zealand markets for over a decade. Our market share is growing rapidly in the region, with many local companies and government institutions as our customers," said Gromyko.
He said Kaspersky Lab currently collaborates with four distributors in Australia and two in New Zealand, but this will extend to six in total.

He said the new office will benefit customers because it will be able to co-operate with partners more closely and improve the quality of technical and marketing support.

“Australia and New Zealand were among the first international markets that our company entered in the late 1990s. During this time we have achieved, not only a substantial market share and popularity, but also earned respect and recognition among our customers, and we are determined to keep it that way,” said Eugene Kaspersky, (pictured)CEO Kaspersky Lab.

“Our new office in Australia will help us to improve the quality of our services provided both for end customers and partners and will increase our business outreach throughout the entire Oceania.”

Details of the Melbourne office have yet to be finalised.
