An iiNet data centre in Western Australia lost power this morning, causing service outages across the state.

iiNet suffers power loss at WA data centre
iiNet's Osborne Park facility. It was unclear if this or another site lost power.

The outage began at about 11.00am AEST with widespread reports of problems across the iiNet network, including to the state’s broadband services as well as iiNet-provided voice services.

Power was restored to the site after 30 minutes.

But the company said users were still likely to be impacted by flow-on effects from the data centre failure.

Customers across the state were continuing to complain about lack of service at the time of publication.

Restoration works continued deep into Wednesday afternoon.

The company said the outage had damaged some of its networking hardware.

There was no word from the company on the cause of the power loss, nor which of the internet provider’s two main facilities were impacted.

iiNet has about 88 racks in a data centre at Osborne Park, as well as a sizable presence in the city-centre QV1 building in Perth.
