Global networking vendor, Huawei Technologies is aiming to take its Australian operations seriously with the launch of local field services across the country.

The company has signed a one year Field Service Agreement with NCR’s Worldwide customer service division and Silcar to create a national maintenance and support coverage network.

The agreement covers basic on-site customer maintenance and fault rectification, through to major equipment installation, deployment and upgrades. It will give Huawei hands-on service coverage across capitol cities and regional centres.

Huawei’s Australian technical services director, Arthur Zhang, said the key driver in Huawei’s tendering process was the experience and size to provide comprehensive national coverage.

“The agreement will provide Huawei with the field force capacity to provide support and maintenance to our customers at their sites throughout the country and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our Australian customer base,” Zhang said.

Regional account director for NCR Australia’s WCS division, Eduardo Piriz, said while the initial agreement was only for twelve months it had the potential to turn into long-term business.

“This agreement allows Silcar the opportunity to support and grow with Huawei’s Australian operations,” national operations and maintenance manager at Silcar, Murray McKenzie, said.
