Integrator ComputerCORP has acquired Tasmanian IT procurement and services organisation XITE as it looks for national coverage.

The acquisition follows the opening of a Brisbane office four months ago and a Melbourne office in January last year.

Hugh Smith, managing director at the Perth-headquartered integrator, said a Darwin office would be operational by the end of the year, completing the company's national expansion strategy.

"The Tasmanian operation was bought forward due to the XITE proposition, an opportunity not to be missed as culturally it is an excellent fit and will bolt on to the existing ComputerCORP business. The employees of XITE are being encouraged to stay wherever appropriate," said Smith.

XITE managing director Colin Pederson has agreed to become the Tasmania state manager for ComputerCORP.

In a statement, Pederson said: "Smaller VARs like XITE recognise that in order to remain competitive, in the light of so much manufacturer consolidation and channel realignment, they need to consolidate with a national organisation. The integration of XITE has already begun."
