Payments provider BPAY has appointed a new chief information officer, with financial services sector IT leader Angela Donohoe claiming the executive role.

The appointment follows the recent departure of BPAY’s general manager of IT services John Mantzios, who was responsible for overseeing operational IT and infrastructure support for the organisation.
It marks a resurgence for the CIO title, which appeared to be abandoned after former CIO Erik Andersen left the payments provider in 2011.
Donohoe takes over Mantzios' former duties as well as technology governance, risk management and information security, including strategy and architecture.
While BPAY declined to clarify the difference in reporting lines, Donohoe will be part of BPAY’s executive leadership team and report directly to the CEO.
Prior to taking up the new role, Donohoe served for more than five-and-a-half years as the CIO and director of information services NSW Office of State Revenue.
In a 25-year career spanning both finance and the public sector, Donohoe has also held senior technology leadership roles at Cuscal, Societe Generale and Bank of New York.
Mantzios wrapped up with the payments providerin September, having first joined the organisation as its head of technology operations and infrastructure in April 2009.
One of Mantzios’ major achievements was the delivery of the $7.5 million 'one platform' program, which migrated BPAY’s core payments platform from COBOL code on mainframe to Java on Oracle/SUN Solaris.
