Symantec's Sydney Security Operations Centre is part of a $12 million expansion in Australia by the company and will eventually employ 375 staff. The inner sanctum of the SecOps centre is protected by biometric sensors.

Paul Fletcher, said the Symantec SecOps centre drew on Sydney's multicultural strengths, with employees being able to speak multiple languages in the Asia-Pacific region as well as having IT skills.
Symantec cyber security group VP Samir Kapuria said the company tracks around four trillion threat indicators from hundreds of millions of devices around the world.
Inside the SecOps centre analysts are watching events from telemetry around the world.
Analysis and engineering will be provided by Symantec from the SecOps Centre as well as training for the APAC region in seven different languages.
A large wall dashboard provides a real-time view of security events as they are detected.
Internet protocol addresses of systems believed to be involved in attacks are displayed on the dashboard.
Kapuria said that Symantec is trying to disrupt the chain of security events, so as to prevent the exfiltration of data.
