The mobile carrier has also dropped its $49 a month plan which came with 12 GB of quota.

Virgin's entry-level plan stays at $19 a month with a USB modem or $26 a month with a portable wi-fi modem but comes with an extra 500 MB of quota compared to the previous plan.

The $29 a month plan jumps from 4 GB to 6 GB of quota and the $39 a month plan similarly increases from 10 GB to 12 GB of quota.

Virgin's beefiest postpaid plan, at $59 a month, has been boosted from 14 GB to 18 GB.

Modem rental fees across all plans remain the same under the plan changes.

The company said it did not charge for excess data usage.
