Victorian VAD Meier Business Systems has snapped up a chance to become the premier provider of support for Management Information Tools (MIT) across Australia, New Zealand and south Asia.
Brian Egan, sales and marketing manager at Meier Business Systems, said US vendor MIT had a large install-base across the region for its multi-value-based business intelligence applications.
'The deal is quite significant, not necessarily in dollar terms, but in adding value to our particular market. It will help our resellers build their business,' he said.
Multi-value is a generic term for three-dimensional databases – as opposed to relational databases -- stemming from one invented by Richard Pick in the 1970s. 'It helps you slice and dice all your data,' Egan said.
IBM had been providing support for MIT but had changed its strategy. Instead, one of MIT's two Australian distributors, Meier Business Systems, was taking over first and second-level MIT support for end-users and resellers, he said.
'We had been providing support to our end-users and may gain some additional resellers,' Egan said.
Meier Business Systems had previously distributed MIT as an IBM partner.
MIT software suited large organisations down to 'ma and pa' five-user businesses, he said.
Meier Business Systems expected to conclude its nineteenth year of consecutive year on year growth on 30 June. 'I think come 30 June, we'll be able to put our hand on our heart and say that. That's pretty impressive,' Egan said.
The VAD has 26 staff.
Meier Business Systems' Melbourne and Sydney offices distribute MIT, Via Systems, MVQuery and the UK's MMT throughout Australia, New Zealand and south Asia.
