Telstra toasts 10-year Coke deal

Coca-Cola Amatil has signed a decade-long contract for the supply of VoIP and mobile telecommunications and managed computing services from Telstra.

Financial details were not disclosed.

It was said to be Telstra's largest exclusive contract in the enterprise and government sector, covering 130 Coca-Cola offices in Australia.

In addition, it places Telstra as the preferred telecommunications provider for the food and beverage giant's international operations.

Telstra will deliver services including IP telephony; mobile voice and data services including mobile handsets, wireless broadband services and BlackBerry devices; a managed Cisco contact centre solution for Coca-Cola's six national contact centres; and managed computing including the use of Telstra's dedicated and utility hosting.

Coca-Cola Amatil Group managing director Terry Davis said the company was part-way into several innovative communications-related trials as part of the agreement.

"As part of the contract Telstra and CCA have already commenced an initial trial involving 17 field technicians using laptops and vehicles equipped with Trimble vehicle tracking, which is seeing some impressive productivity improvements," Davis said.

"We're looking forward to testing more innovations like this in the months and years ahead."
