He is set to start in the new role in mid-April.

Chesterman replaces Christopher Olter who had been CIO of the bank for two years, and its head of technology before that.

It's understood that Olter left at the end of January this year.

Chesterman was most recently the group executive for technology and data at the ASX, a role he left last year before his position was filled by Jamie Crank after a three month search.

In a statement, Teachers Mutual Bank's CEO Anthony Hughes said Chesterman “is an experienced and dynamic leader who has driven transformative technology change."

“He joins at a pivotal time where we are undergoing a significant transformation and modernisation program," Hughes said.

“His experience in establishing and delivering successful technology outcomes for highly regulated businesses will be invaluable as we undertake this program of work and continue to deliver great outcomes for our members."
