The vocational education and training provider renewed an existing agreement with Dell in 2022 to supply 17,000 devices over three years.

However, the full scale of the deal has only just been revealed due to TAFE NSW consolidating multiple sub-contract entries into a single master contract record.

TAFE NSW told iTnews, the contract, which expires in September 2025, covers the replacement of approximately 17,000 devices including desktops, laptops, thin clients, monitors and accessories such as keyboards and docking stations.

“Of these, 60 percent are used by learners in classrooms, libraries, and mobile spaces, while 40 percent are allocated to employees,” a TAFE NSW spokesperson said.

“This contract enables TAFE NSW’s capital investment program to ensure students and staff have access to modern, fit-for-purpose tools.”

Dell was first awarded the contract in 2017 through a NSW whole-of-government panel, which TAFE NSW then renewed in September 2022.

Snippets of the deployment have been revealed over the last three years, including its deployment of 1400 library laptops across regional and remote communities earlier this year.
