A company spokeswoman said the acquisition was intended to complement Symantec's other anti-spam technologies.
The deal follows on the heels of Symantec's $370 purchase of anti-spam supplier Brightmail.
Symantec plans initially to offer the Turn Tide technology as a standalone on an appliance and then will offer a product that integrates the technology later this year, the spokeswoman said.
