Under guidance from new group CTO.

Strandbags group chief technology officer John Khoury plans to implement cyber security awareness initiatives, similar to those carried out during his time at My Muscle Chef.

Strandbags to enhance cyber security posture

Speaking to iTnews at last week's Trend Micro World Tour 25, Khoury said he’ll be looking to bring in lessons from his tenure at the ready-made meals company.

Having only been in his current Strandbags position for around four months, he said the team is in the “early stages of assessing our footprint, our vulnerabilities and what solution or solutions I want to implement.”

Khoury said the company is trialling security-as-a-service from one provider, and is also trialling services from Trend Micro, "because I've had a good experience with them at My Muscle Chef.”

Another thing Khoury hopes to bring in from his three years at My Muscle Chef include a cyber risk prevention program.

Khoury said that he wanted to improve compliance with users completing cyber risk awareness training.

He said good security hygiene was necessary "not only to protect the business, but to protect ... our users.”

Security compliance is also becoming a necessity in the retail space.

“We can't trade with some of our large clients them unless they audit us [first]," he said, noting this  audit activity covered security.

Security is also being elevated in the company's technology strategy.

Khoury added that he saw a potential role for AI to identify opportunities for vulnerability and validation testing.
