Microsoft's SP1 to be included in auto updates from April

SP1 for Vista available for download
Microsoft has announced that its service pack 1 for Windows Vista is available to download for free from its web sites.

Those that choose not to download it yet, will find that SPI will automatically start downloading to PCs from mid-April as part of the firms' Windows Update feature, but will only install if the user specifically sets it to.

SP1 includes a number of fixes, and this latest version has improved use of drivers, and other issues that were fixed after user feedback, according to a blogpost. Users will PCs that are unlikely to be able to handle these updated features, will have installation delayed, the post adds.

Users are also advised to carefully read the accompanying material before installing.
