Tabcorp appoints new CISO

Tabcorp has named Maxine Harrison as its new chief information security officer, after the departure of its former leader in July.

It made the announcement in a brief LinkedIn post on the company’s official account, which iTnews verified.

“Maxine brings extensive experience in cyber security and technology leadership, most recently serving as CISO at the Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action,” the post stated.

“As technology continues to play an increasingly important role in how we operate and deliver for our customers, Maxine will lead our cyber security strategy and capability, helping to strengthen the security and resilience of our business.”

Harrison spent almost three-and-a-half years with the Victorian government department.

Prior to that, she held a leadership role in cyber security and risk at Service NSW, and spent eight years in security and end user computing roles at NBN Co.

Harrison replaces Josh Kam, who spent a bit over two years at Tabcorp, initially as its CISO and then as its chief security officer, a role that typically covers both physical and IT security domains.

It wasn’t clear at the time of publication why the company had reverted to a CISO position title, or where responsibility for the physical security domain now sits.

A spokesperson was contacted for additional clarification.
