Local distributor, Powerhouse Pc World plans to bring back Sea Sonic’s power range of products back to the country after a twenty year hiatus.
Taiwan-based Sea Sonic specialises in power supplies for the PC, IT and the telecommunications markets. It was founded in 1975 and had a local reseller base from 1980-1990.
Jewel Ding, managing director at Powerhouse Pc said the company pulled its products away from the Aussie market because it was “too small”.
“Sea Sonic wanted to focus on its existing Taiwan and in the growing US and European market,” she said.
Ding said Powerhouse wanted to go back to Taiwan and bring the products back to Australia because there is still a small market for the product.
“The company makes products for Foxconn. Optima also buy its power supply products directly from the Taiwan headquarters.”
Computer case maker PC Case Gear and computer reseller AUSPC Market have already made enquiries about purchasing Sea Sonic products, said Ding.
“The distribution agreement between the two companies starts from July. We will be bringing the first product, Sea Sonic S12 Plus power supply to the local market in early September,” she said.
“We have had interest from resellers about signing up to sign the product and we are looking to sign-up interested partners soon.
