Optus confirms competitive iPad 3G plans

Telstra was the first Australian carrier to release prices for the iPad WiFi+3G, with plans starting at $20 for 1GB of data.

Optus doubled the data in its basic plan, offering 2GB for $20. It also included more data in its $60 plan, providing 8GB versus Telstra's 6GB for the same price.

Optus' third iPad plan matched Telstra's at $30 for 3GB.

Vodafone Australia is yet to announce prices for its iPad 3G data plans, but a spokesman told iTnews that it would launch a registration site ahead of the iPad's May 28 release.

Australians paid 11 percent more than Americans for an iPad, which included GST (US prices were quoted without sales tax).

In the US customers can buy an unlimited data plan for US$29.99 (A$33.35) a month through telco AT&T.
