Apple reseller Next Byte closes up its Adelaide shop in Glenelg tomorrow, Thursday 17 February, in preparation for a bigger operation in Adelaide’s CBD.

Adam Steinhardt, managing director at South Australia-based Next Byte, said the independent Apple reseller was merging the Glenelg operation with its Adelaide CBD store in a larger location.

The closure of Glenelg did not reflect an overall decline in business for the reseller. Rather, Next Byte was refocusing its Adelaide business, he suggested.

“Glenelg is shutting in Adelaide. But we’re merging with our CBD store to build a bigger Adelaide CBD store in a bigger location,” Steinhardt said.

The new central city outlet was slated to open 1 April, he said.

Sales of iPod shuffles were tipped to take off as stocks had begun arriving, he said.

“The shuffles are trickling through,” Steinhardt said. “The new PowerBook is also going very well.”

Next Byte also has an Adelaide outlet at its head office location in Glenunga. Stores in two Victorian, seven NSW and two Queensland locations complete its outlet portfolio.
