IT services and wireless telecoms specialist LogicaCMG has picked up a new contract to deliver web content management for the Queensland State Government.

The deal will see LogicaCMG integrate enterprise content manager provider Reddot Solutions’ Live Server into the Government’s electronic document records management system (eDRMS).

The system ensures compliance with regulatory requirements around records management.

According to LogicaCMG CEO Colin Holgate, the deal -– for an as-yet undisclosed sum -- was of great significance to the integrator.

“We have been the preferred tenderer with the Queensland Government for some time but historically we’ve never had anything of this scale,” he said. “It means we will be dramatically changing the size of our Brisbane office with across the board staff hires.”

The contract is part of the Queensland State Government’s adoption of a whole-of-government shared services business model for the delivery of IT services.

As part of a move toward standardisation, the contract would help LogicaCMG in tendering for future government contracts, Holgate said.

“The initiative means there is a common environment across the whole of government,” he said. “So the work we do around content management will be repeatable through the rest of government.”

Despite a deliberate focus on the government vertical, traditional verticals continued to play an important role in LogicaCMG’s success, Holgate said.

“Energy and utilities are still our biggest verticals,” he said. “But this contract and others like it are about replicating that success in one of the fastest growing ones.”

LogicaCMG continued its work in the telco sector, Holgate said, with a move into the telco solutions and content management areas.

Asset management, RFID, wireless enterprise and SAP deployments also continued to be lucrative streams for the integrator in the transport vertical.
