Notebook vendor, Lenovo has made available Vodafone's 3G mobile broadband connectivity on selected ThinkPad T60 and X60 notebooks.

Peter Di Pietrantonio, marketing director, Lenovo A/NZ said, the integration of 3G broadband capability added to existing WiFi and Ethernet connectivity on Lenovo ThinkPads.

“Within 3G coverage areas, customers can enjoy download speeds of up to 384 kbps,” he said.

When Vodafone incorporates High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) into its network later this year, ThinkPad customers will also be able to upgrade their notebooks firmware to boost current 3G download speeds to around 1.6 MBps.

The integrated notebooks are now available from Lenovo through selected IT resellers. Recommended retail prices for the new Lenovo ThinkPad X series 3G mobile broadband laptops will be available immediately starting at $3849 and in late May, the ThinkPad T series will be available starting at $3399.

As reported on iTnews, Vodafone announced that it had signed a similar deal with Dell aimed at OEMing its broadband Media Connect card, in January.
