LAN Systems, Watchguard part ways

After several years of partnership, distributor LAN Systems and security vendor Watchguard have parted ways.

After several years of partnership, distributor LAN Systems and security vendor Watchguard have announced their decision to part ways amicably.

Leigh Howard, national sales manager, LAN Systems said the parting was due to a number of factors.

“[A decision was made] between ourselves and Watchguard on a global scale to part ways on friendly terms,” said Howard.

“LAN Systems carried Watchguard’s core products for several years. However a number of factors in the security market have contributed to our decision to part ways.”

Howard said the distributor felt the size of the security market was no longer big enough for Watchguard to sustain three distributors and it was better for them to “rationalise” the list.

“Our security portfolio which includes CheckPoint and Trend Micro products for the enterprise has also played a part in the decision,” he said. “We were also looking to rationalise our own security portfolio.”

According to Howard both companies have yet to finalise the ending of the agreement.

“We are still working together and will do so through the August trading month,’ said Howard.
