New fixed wireless, backhaul and opportunities for bush resellers.

Internode has extended the reach of its fixed WiMAX network in regional South Australia.

Internode expands regional SA footprint

Iit could offer wireless DSL services to "areas surrounding Berri, Black Hill, Blanchetown, Maggea, Murray Bridge, Ramco and Renmark", the ISP said in a statement.

Services in the area would be offered directly and through smaller ISPs including Redback Technology at Berri and Riverland Internet at Renmark.

The WiMAX expansion came as the ISP extended other aspects of its network in the region.

It added "28 kilometres of fibre-optic cable in Berri, Murray Bridge and Port Pirie to deliver commercial broadband services for SA Government agencies in those towns".

And it "built a microwave backhaul service that links Berri with Murray Bridge," the ISP said.

"To create that microwave backhaul link, Agile used one existing tower and built three new towers. All are equipped with Alcatel microwave equipment," Internode said.
