“Meera brings decades of experience in engineering and technology leadership, and she’ll be focused on driving growth and impact across our engineering team," a representative for the bank told iTnews.

"Her role as CTO encompasses overseeing Up’s technical strategy, ensuring our platform continues to scale, and delivering innovative solutions that enhance the banking experience for our customers."

Up was founded during the neobank boom as part of a collaboration between software company Ferocia and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

Aitchison has been the CTO of Up for over four years, having first starting at the digital bank in mid-2017 as an engineering lead.

He is now taking on a "dedicated digital identity and fraud role" at Bendigo, the company confirmed.

Both Aneez and Aitchison report to Xavier Shay, who holds the dual role of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank chief digital officer and Up CEO.
