Streamlines SAP environment.

The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation is planning a strategic redesign and implementation of its SAP system.

ANSTO lines up two-year ERP redesign

The agency said in tender documents that its SAP system was implemented in 2002 and needed to be redesigned "to enable end-to-end business process integration".

It said the SAP system had "gone through an extensive evolutionary process", culminating in the upgrade to ERP central component (ECC) 6.0.

"In the upgrade process there has been a significant reduction in custom developments by using SAP standard functionality," ANSTO noted.

The strategic redesign and implementation project is expected to take about two years. Delivery is expected to begin next year.

"The goal of this initiative is to fully integrate ANSTO's business processes and operations into a single cohesive, holistic and transparent environment enabled by SAP," the agency noted.

ANSTO wanted to see some simplification in the end user experience of the system, minimising switches between screens and requirements to copy and paste data.

The agency noted the project was occurring in a "cost constrained environment" and that it wanted to engage consultants and developers on a fixed-price basis.
