Since acquiring NZ ISP and data centre operator Maxnet in May last year, Vocus has continued to build out the Auckland facility it bought.
The expansion site was opened by NZ minister of communications and the environment, Amy Adams, along with Vocus chairman David Spence.
Some 60 server racks have been installed in the expansion site, with 30kW of power and cooling for each. There is room for a further 110 racks, Vocus said.
Schneider Electric built the cooling system for Vocus, which is water based with hot aisle containment.
Roof mounted chillers are part of the cooling design.
The facility is fed with up to 2MW of power, via separate substations for redundancy.
There are separate transformers, 2N UPS and 2N diesel generators on site.
The expansion site is in addition to the existing 200-rack colocation facility in Albany, north of Auckland.
Vocus relocated its Asia-Pacific network operations centre (NOC) to Auckland earlier this year.
