Veeam Software, a provider of systems management tools for VMware virtual datacentres, has updated its monitoring systems.
The company said today that Veeam Monitor and Veeam Monitor Free Edition offer improved performance monitoring, reporting, capacity planning and troubleshooting. Specifically, the tools will give IT professionals an easy-to-read overview of systems, based on business information, the firm said.
The latest version also provides support for Veeam Business View, which provides a dashboard look at virtual environments, and will make sense of virtual machines and CPUs and the storage they use.
Veeam Business View can also provide chargeback information that will let budget-focused IT departments identify those areas of the businesses that draw the most resources. To further simplify this procedure, reports can be exported to Microsoft Excel or an equivalent billing program.
"Now IT professionals can truly understand how the virtual infrastructure impacts specific metrics of the business," explained Ratmir Timashev, Veeam president and chief executive.
"Veeam Business View is a free add-on tool that works with Veeam Monitor to help them group, view, manage and report on virtual machines based on criteria such as business unit, department, location, purpose and service level agreement.
"This gives them an alternative view of the VMware infrastructure, as well as business-centric service-level management which helps support chargeback and control virtual machine sprawl by linking every virtual machine to a business service."
